Death came early for Ambo and Cris. And all they wanted was for things to change.
I was in the middle of cramming academic requirements when I came upon this photo of Ambo (left) and Cris (right). It looks as if they were discreetly exchanging wisecracks in the middle of an educational discussion. What the photo captured seemed like a happier time; a time none of them can ever revisit.
It may seem strange, but I felt a stab of nostalgia. For what, I'm not sure. Maybe I'm just saddened by the fact that they're dead. People so close to my age are being killed violently, in broad daylight, in the presence of their loved ones. These are, indeed, brutal times.
It was at this point that I found myself pausing from schoolwork, and, not knowing what else to do, I opened Adobe Photoshop and started putting together this mundane piece of condolence. Funny, I think, that my indignation initially and instinctively takes the form of graphic design. How petit-bourgeois.
There are other ways to mourn for the deaths of those who chose to resist. And the best ways involve no tears or sadness. The time to mourn is over; we must continue where they left off.
Rie Mon "Ambo" Guran

On the evening of March 20, while walking home with his professor, Cris was shot dead. He was 20.
though you see this as an act of a "petit bourgeois"; it is still an action that is needed --- remembering and reminding me and everybody else in this "petit bourgeois" world of DA that there is a struggle and there are individuals dying for it....

Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
When it comes to community spirit, `Rushy is a shining example. From participating in devmeets, to providing positive encouragement to other artists, `Rushy can always be found demonstrating what it really takes to be a true deviant. It's without any hesitation that we are delighted to award the Deviousness Award for July 2009 to `RushyRead More
